Today, the KNAW ( Koninklijke Academie voor Wetenschappen Nederland- Royal Dutch Academy of Science) issued a advise report titled “ Efficiency gains through innovation in medicine development: how can science contribute ?”.

In brief: the report advocates for more collaboration and trust between all stakeholders; and consultation of all stakeholders at all stages of drug development ( including patients and regulators) and a shift from “bench to bedside” to “ bedside to bench”; and also to create a feedback loop from real life data back to development and discovery. They also advocate for a national expertise centre in The Netherlands to coordinate and streamline all activities and efforts regarding drug discovery and development.
